How do I take care of a pinkie?

I got a pinkie for my snake but he won't eat it live & I'm not gonna kill it.How do I care for him? I know he probably won't survive but it's worth a try.I have him in a plastic container with cloth and a heating pad.I am going to feed him kitten formula with a syringe.He has a little fur but his eyes are closed.Is there anything else I can do?
