Negative culture and blood test...what is it?

On 11/17 I was possibly exposed to , even though he has had no other ual contact besides me, and I went to get tested last Tuesday 12/8. My doctor was said that he was 100% positive that this was , and started me on Valtrex. He took a *thorough* culture swab of the breakout area which was extremely painful, and did a blood test. After all of that, he called me yesterday saying that both of the tests came back negative. Is there any way that I could still have even with both negative tests? He made the point that it takes at least 12 weeks for my body to produce the antibodies that fight off the virus, so I will go back for two more tests...6 weeks and 12 weeks most likely to see if there are any changes. If you have any opinions on this, please share them. This has been an extremely difficult week for me. Thanks!
